New Hires

Justin Di Palo - Justin rejoined Syska Hennessy to serve as co-lead of its national sustainability practice and as an associate partner. He is based in the Los Angeles office. An accredited professional for LEED, WELL, and EcoDistricts, Justin has extensive experience in energy modeling, decarbonization, and high-performance design.

William Kuzan - He recently joined our Chicago office as an associate partner and supervising engineer. Bill has over 40 years of mechanical engineering expertise working on HVAC system designs for pharmaceutical, hospitality, higher education, commercial, and aviation projects. He is a professional engineer and a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning (ASHRAE).

Brian Engleheart - Brian is an associate partner and associate practice area director in our New York office. With over 25 years of leadership in managing design teams and spearheading technology projects for prestigious global financial institutions and Fortune 500 companies, Brian brings a wealth of expertise to the Syska Hennessy Information and Communication Technology (ICT) group.

David Victor - David joined our team as the Innovations Manager. In this dynamic role, he will oversee our innovations program, leading the charge in implementing AI and robotic process automation (RPAs) to enhance our operations. David’s professional journey is marked by a significant tenure at Capgemini, where he contributed to the Application Cloud Technologies team. His focus was on product development, corporate application rollouts, project reporting, and business analysis.

Two Awards for 50 Hudson Yards

At the First Annual REmmys Gala, hosted by CoreNet New York City Chapter, 50 Hudson Yards won the Project of the Year award. The 967,000-square-foot headquarters, which takes up the lower third of the new 58-floor building, was designed to a new standard of quality, employee comfort, and functionality while achieving exceptional levels of energy-efficiency, modularity, and resiliency. Syska Hennessy provided MEP engineering, BMS/EPMS design, fire alarm design, and energy modeling for BlackRock’s new headquarters.

BlackRock’s NYC Headquarters also won Interior Design Magazine Best of Year Award. Congratulations to the entire project team on this amazing achievement!

Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC) - Helena Theurer Pavilion!

Our client asked us to provide mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, fire alarm and life safety, ICT, and architectural lighting services for the new state-of-the-art surgical and intensive care tower.

ACEC Florida Grand Award

Orlando International Airport South Terminal Complex won the prestigious Grand Award from the @ American Council of Engineering Companies of Florida (ACEC-FL). This honor recognizes exceptional infrastructure projects across the State of Florida. Syska Hennessy worked with the team to provide mechanical, plumbing, and high-performance design for this world-class airport terminal that has changed the traveler experience.

That’s Music to our Ears!

The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center won a 2024 United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) Architecture Honor Award. Syska Hennessy collaborated with Epstein Joslin Architects to provide MEP and architectural lighting design services for this world-class destination for music, dance performances and educational programming.

Engineering Excellence - Guillermo Delmar Named Top Engineer in MENA Region

Syska Hennessy’s very own Guillermo Delmar, a senior mechanical engineer in our Dubai office, was recognized as one of the Top Engineers and Architects Award recipients for the MENA Region by the Filipino Times Watchlist. With over 3.5 million Filipinos living and working in the region, he was chosen as one of the Top 100 Engineers and Architects who have made remarkable achievements and contributions in the Middle East and North Africa region.

Andrew Krenning, Associate Managing Director, took the stage on December 5th for a panel discussion titled “Evolving Leasing Dynamics.” This session focused on anticipating tenant desires, talent attraction, and retention strategies.

Robert Ioanna, Chief Technical Officer, participated in the 2024 MEP Innovation Conference's Owner-Operator-Engineer panel on Tuesday, January 30th. The insightful discussion on stakeholder synergy in construction projects addressed the challenges, practices, and collaboration techniques to drive successful outcomes.

Tony Gonzalez, Associate Partner, had the opportunity to connect with engineering students at Widener University. He discussed the pivotal role of MEP engineering in the built environment. John Samson, Senior Associate, was part of a panel discussion titled “Building for AI and Advanced Tech Infrastructure” at the National Data Center Construction, Design & Development – East. The session concentated on how to design for future demand in today’s environment.

Leigh Ann Vogel, Associate Partner, was a panelist in a session titled “Optimizing Patient Experience & Outcomes Through Healthcare Facility Advancement” at the Atlanta Healthcare & Life Science Summit. This discussion focused on expanding facility types, design aspects, and investments in improving patient care.

Tom Mikulasovich, Associate Partner, was featured on a webcast titled "Plumbing: Back to Basics for System Design." Plumbing is not just a necessity; it's the foundation of any robust building design, encompassing everything from fire pumps to hydraulic systems. The session covered everything from master fixtures and faucets to water systems, and participants had the chance to review real-world commercial designs.

Joe Romano, Associate Partner, participated in a Consulting-Specifying Engineer podcast. In this episode, he discusses how EV charging affects electrical and power systems. He sheds light on the crucial considerations electrical engineers must navigate when orchestrating the design of new or revitalizing existing EV charging stations.

Todd Czworniak, Associate Partner, participated in a webinar on how to navigate the dynamic landscape of liquid cooling strategies. Attendees learned the differences and advantages, financial implications, tradeoffs, and adoption timelines.

Quindi Guiseppe, Associate Partner, and Jim Neff, Senior Associate, presented “A Case Study on Decarbonization: Planning, Tools, and Technologies to Meet the Low-Carbon Challenge” at the University Science and Engineering Facilities 2024 conference. They shared a successful campus central energy plant decarbonization project, showcasing innovative solutions tailored to address this challenge.

Robert Fagnant, Associate Partner, was on a panel discussion titled “Why San Diego” at Southern California Life Sciences Conference, which focused on market trends, identifying opportunities, understanding location desires and site selection.

Syska Hennessy’s Arslan Asovic, Senior Associate, was on a panel discussion titled “Building & Designing with Science & Tenant Needs Top of Mind” at New York Life Sciences & Biotech conference. The session focused on understanding evolving priorities of biotech companies.

On May 15th, Lucy Vereenooghe, Associate Principal, along with Senior Associates Adrienne Bonski and Joseph Feeney, and John Enoch led a session on "Decarbonizing the Built Environment – Rethinking Zero." They explored the concepts of holistic integrated net zero design, decarbonization, and electrification and their impact on the building sector.

New York Rangers Community Captain Award Winner
