A few words from Cyrus
Hard to believe that the end of 2023 is approaching, but we hope we can spread some warmth with this Fall/Winter issue, which serves as a testament to the remarkable journey our 95th year in business has presented us.
In the ever-evolving world of business, this year has been nothing short of remarkable, characterized by bustling activity and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Our employees have been the driving force behind our success, and it is with immense pride and gratitude that I extend my kudos to each one of them. Our projects showcase their innovation, resilience, and dedication to our clients’ success. Check out our features on Hackensack University Medical Center and Castro Municipal Railway Station for examples!
As we celebrate our anniversary, we reflect upon the significant milestones achieved since 1928, when Syska was first exploring mechanical and electrical engineering for commercial usage. Now we’re applying those same services to the digital world and even implementing AI. To learn more about the important milestones in engineering over the decades, read our “Lookback” with Syska chairman Gary Brennen.
Other changes since 1928 include more representation from women and minorities in the A/E/C industry. A great example of a success story is Pascale Sablan, the global president of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA). Don’t miss our Q&A with her!
As for an upcoming change, I bid a fond farewell to chairman Gary Brennen, who will be retiring at the end of this year after 41 years with our firm. His achievements, accomplishments, and impact are felt through every part of this organization. We will all miss him deeply.
Thank you, readers, for being an integral part of our journey. We hope you enjoy this issue of our magazine and find inspiration in the stories we've shared.
